Print this articleGreenpois0n is one of many desktop applications used to jailbreak an iPad. Jailbreaking unlocks the iPad from iTunes and allows you to install third-party software from the independent Cydia application store. An application called Loader is applied to the iPad by Greenpois0n during the jailbreaking process, which allows you to install the Cydia application once the process has completed.

Download the appropriate version of Greenpois0n for your computer. Windows and Mac versions are available. Right-click the file after it has downloaded and select "Extract Here" to extract the jailbreaking app to your computer.

2

Connect the iPad to your computer using its USB cable. If iTunes launches and automatically begins to sync your iPad, wait until it has finished before proceeding.

3

Click the "Jailbreak" button in the Greenpois0n application on your computer. A series of instructions is displayed, directing you to put your iPad into recovery mode. Pay attention to the on-screen prompts as you proceed.

4

Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button on top of the iPad for three seconds.

5

Press and hold the "Home" button while continuing to hold the "Sleep/Wake" button.

6

Release the "Sleep/Wake" button after 10 seconds, but continue to hold the "Home" button for an additional 15 seconds. The iPad reboots and a list of text is displayed on the screen as the jailbreaking process initiates.

7

Click the "Complete" button when it appears in the Greenpois0n application on your desktop. The iPad will reboot once more to complete the jailbreaking process. You can now disconnect the iPad from its USB cable.

8

Tap the Loader icon that has appeared on the iPad's Home screen after it has rebooted.

9

Tap the "Cydia" button in Loader, followed by the "Install Cydia" button. Cydia is downloaded and installed on your jailbroken iPad.

10

Tap the "Reboot" button when prompted by the Loader app to complete the Cydia installation process. Once the iPad has rebooted, Cydia is installed and ready for use.

Tips & Warnings

Run the Loader app again once Cydia has been successfully installed and tap the "Remove Loader" button. This removes the Loader app from the iPad's Home screen, as it is no longer required.

Greenpois0n provides visual prompts to help with the button presses when putting the iPad into recovery mode.

If Cydia fails to install from the Loader application, wait a few minutes and try again. Cydia is downloaded from its online servers, which are sometimes overloaded and do not immediately respond.
