My BlackBerry Email Cannot Transmit

If your phone is unable to transmit email, it may have lost its network connection. Most BlackBerry devices’ network settings default to the connected position, but sometimes these settings can inadvertently become disabled. Checking your phone’s settings, which are accessible from the device’s home screen, will give you the ability to reactivate or enable network connectivity. Most BlackBerrys connect to the 2G or 3G wireless networks, or both, and are compatible with Wi-Fi settings. You can use each of these connections to send and receive email, but will experience problems if the BlackBerry’s connection is not established.

Network Problems

High network traffic volume, power outages and stormy weather can cause a mobile phone, such as a BlackBerry, to fail to send and receive cellular transmissions, including email. If the tower holds on to the transmission, it will appear as if your email has been sent, but the message will not arrive at its destination until the tower has sent the transmission. If the tower attempts to divert the transmission, you may experience a failure to transmit prompt. In these situations, all that you can do is wait for the condition to be resolved on its own.

Wi-Fi Issues

Connecting to the Internet through your BlackBerry’s Wi-Fi feature requires a wireless router that has a wired connection to a phone or cable line. Most routers have a limit in relation to how many devices it can provide Internet access to, which are typically five. Each Wi-Fi router’s Internet connection has access to a limited amount of bandwidth. As this bandwidth’s capacity is neared or reached, transmissions can become sluggish, which could cause your BlackBerry to fail to transmit email. Occasionally, the Internet service provider’s overall network traffic can also affect subscribers’ Internet performance, which could become slow or non-existent for a period of time. Disconnecting some of the router’s connected devices may help you successfully transmit email through this mode.

Considerations

POP, SMTP and IMAP servers can become overwhelmed with network traffic or may experience technical difficulties; if that happens, they will fail to work or will crash. When this happens, your BlackBerry will be unable to transmit email messages. If your email issues persist, sending messages via the device’s messaging feature, which supports text and multimedia messages, can help circumvent the situation until the email problems have been resolved.

Can I Forward a Whole Text Conversation to My Email on a BlackBerry Curve?

The messaging program on a BlackBerry Curve is capable of sending both text and multimedia content, either to one person or a group of people. While you can forward any individual message on to your email address, it is not possible to send a group of messages at the same time.

Message forwarding lets you send a copy of your text, photo or video messages to an email address or the PIN of another BlackBerry user, which creates a backup copy of the information. Once the messages are forwarded, should your BlackBerry crash or become lost, you will always have the copy of your texts. Without forwarding, there is no way to access old texts should your BlackBerry lose the information.

Process

You can only forward messages one at a time. While you may have a long string of texts between you and another person, known as a conversation, at present there is no way to forward an entire conversation. To forward a message, open the message and select the "Menu" key on your phone. Click "Forward As" and choose "Email" from the options. Enter the email address information and follow the onscreen prompts to forward the message. Repeat the process for each individual message in the conversation.

Privacy

When you forward messages on your BlackBerry Curve, the sender of the original message is not informed about your action. You can forward or delete messages on your device without anyone else knowing about it. Likewise, someone may forward your messages to a friend and you will not be informed that your texts are being shared.

Consideration

BlackBerry does not permit users to forward MMS messages that contain copyright protected content. MMS messages contain photos or videos by definition, and if you do not own the rights to the content, they must remain on your device alone. Texts between you and a friend are not considered copyrighted and may be freely forwarded.
