How to Configure a Citrix Receiver for the iPad Step-by-Step

Print this articleWith the Citrix Receiver for iPad app you can access your workplace files and applications from your iPad from any Wi-Fi network. Like the Citrix desktop client, it allows you to multitask and view Flash files. The app is available free from the Apple App Store and includes a demo. Before getting started you will need permission from your company's network administrator, your Citrix Web server address, username and password and the name of your company's Citrix domain.

Turn on the iPad and tap the “App Store” icon. Tap the “Search” icon. Type “Citrix” in the Search field and tap the “Search” button. Select “Citrix Receiver.”

Tap the “Free” button on the Info page, then tap “Install.” Enter your Apple ID Password as requested and tap “OK” to download the app.

Tap the “Citrix” icon when it has finished installing. Select “Add Account.”

Enter your Citrix server Web address in the “Address” field and tap “Go.”

Type a description in the “Description” field if there is not one there already. You can change the description if desired, but the field cannot be blank.

Key in your Citrix username and password in the fields provided. Type your Citrix domain name in the “Domain” field. Tap “Save.” The app will attempt to connect to your Citrix server. If any of the information was entered incorrectly, you will be prompted to correct it.

Tips & Warnings

Note that the Citrix Receiver app uses the default language and keyboard settings of the server at your workplace and not the keyboard settings of the iPad. If the screen freezes, or the display becomes distorted while using the app, tap the "Settings" icon on the top right of the app, select "Display Options," then lock the display in either "Fit Landscape" or "Fit Portrait" mode.
