There are several iPhone apps that provide NFL news, game content and other NFL information such as player status updates and transactions. NFL livesports24 is one option, as well as the NFL Mobile app. Both are available to download from iTunes or the App Store and install on your iPhone. However, as with many other apps, these apps aren't perfect and do have a few problems for some users.

The NFL livesports24 iPhone app sometimes has problems with the play-by-play feature. This feature is supposed to list each play of a game in chronological order, including the outcome of the play. However, some users have reported that the feature lists plays out of chronological order, so you might read about a touchdown before reading about the plays that set up the score. This is a major problem for people following the game closely via the app.

Apps Crashing

Another issue with the NFL livesports24 iPhone app and other NFL apps is a problem with the app crashing. When an app crashes, it is similar to a computer crashing. The app freezes for a few seconds or more before closing entirely. This happens for a number of reasons, including too many other tasks running on your iPhone or temporarily losing reception. Typically, you can relaunch the app after it crashes and it will work well, but if the app crashes when you are tracking a game closely, it can be very frustrating.

Availability

When the iPhone was originally introduced, it was available exclusively on the AT&T network. As of late 2011, Verizon also offers the iPhone. The NFL Mobile app is generally well reviewed, but it only works on the Verizon network, because the app was developed by Verizon. This is a problem for iPhone users on AT&T or other networks who want to use the app, but can't since they have a service contract with a provider other than Verizon.

Older Versions

Having an older version of any NFL Live app can also cause problems. In many cases, app developers release updated versions of apps to fix various bugs or issues. If you do not update your app to the latest version, then you won't receive the benefit of those fixes. For example, older versions of the NFL livesports24 app had a problem with the app closing right after it was launched on a phone, but version 2.0.1 resolved that issue according to the release notes. Check your apps occasionally to ensure you have the latest versions of each app.
